It is updated quarterly with new research added immediately for important new developments (e.g. the sudden manifestation of SARS). UptoDate covers all aspects of a condition including therapy, diagnosis, etiology, prognosis, harm, and screening. UptoDate is available to licensed users only. To use the link below, you must have a SUNY Downstate ID card. How to Search When you first access UpToDate, you will be asked to accept or decline the License Agreement. After clicking on "Accept", you will be presented with a search box. Enter a search term to access the information you want. UptoDate does not allow you to combine terms using the standard Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT). First search on your first term. In the upper left-hand corner of the screen you will find a grey button labeled "Narrow Search". Click on that button and enter your second term. UptoDate automatically combines the terms to find chapters that are about both subjectts (as if you used "AND"). From a series of possible terms, select the one that most closely reflects the topic you are interested in. You will then be presented with chapter titles related to your topic. Select the chapter that heading that reflects your needs. How to Read an Entry Each chapter contains a mini-table of contents on the left side of the screen. If you are looking for a particular fact, use this list to access the specific information you're looking for. If you are looking a general grounding in the topic, take a moment to survey the kind of information available to you. Then, start reading at an area of interest to you. Each entry in UptoDate contains the author, last update, projected date of next update, links to chapters on related topics, and links to references that support the content.
